Help identifying old mower please

Good morning everyone, new here this is my first post. I picked this little mower up on the side of the road, no markings anywhere due to the surface rust. Wondering if anyone has any idea the year/make/model on it. Thanks in advance.

I agree it looks like a MTD or MTD built ,Probably with 8 HP Briggs Model 195***. Year I am guessing early to mid 80s.
Murray Owners World forum might be of help. Your seat is not original I don't think.

Thank you guys for pointing me in the right direction. I did get it running this weekend, according to grandpa it's an 11 hp briggs but I'm not sure you could be correct with the 8 hp. I thought the seat looked out of place, any idea where I can get an original?

Your top shroud blower housing will have your engine model number stamped into it. If it 195*** it is a 8 HP, if it is 252*** it is 11 HP. I have not seen that fuel tank on a 11 HP but have on 8HP.
The shroud will tell you year also plus more info.
I have a 5-38205 meaning 1985 model. 11hp/42" cut.
Mine has 5 speed Peerless Trans axle.
I am second owner.
If you can figure out Murray Owners World now at tapa talk you should be able to download manuals for your mower once you figure out the exact model.

No shroud unfortunately, what you see is what I got. This one has a 3 speed on it, I'd say you're more than likely correct on the 8 H.P. engine after watching a bunch of YouTube videos. Got it tuned and running good enough to drive around today, didn't check it out underneath first... someone pulley swapped and disabled the brakes. I crashed into the shed, no damage to the tractor just my leg lol
