Hydraulic spooler

I have an ih 484 with an allied 394 loader with a 2 spool controller.
I want to add a 3rd function to the loader, is it as simple as putting on a 3 control spooler.

Would be if your valves are a stacked set. So you can add a third valve to the stack and they are all the same valves. If they are all one casting then you would need to get a third complete valve and plumb in or change to a 3 valve set. The first or last option would require the least room to have mounted and needing the least plumbing to be in the way and to catch on things.

I have a 3 spool set on my 284.
Knowing that is a simple job, although very messy im going to swap them.

Would you clarify if these are factory remote valves or are they multi-spool valves associated with the loaders themselves? I don’t think a factory remote valve on a Komatsu built 284 will swap to a 484. Photos of each would be a sure ID and help you get good feedback. Where do you live that “spooler” is a hydraulic valve name? Or did spell check throw that in there?

I honestly thought they were called spooler although I know they are hydraulic valves.
Pictures not till spring and both tractors are 100+ miles away.
Both valves i'm 90% sure are the ones that came with the loaders (284-kwikway, 484-allied 394).
If they won't swap not a big issue I'll just buy a 3 valve for the 484.
About the only thing I intend to use the 3rd valve for is a grapple on my forks when loading logs onto my mill.

Take a look at the IH674 diesel loader plumbing thread. Check the photo by Bernie in reply 9. If your valves are separate away from the main tractor and are mounted up by the dash like those shown there they will likely swap out fine.

They are the same as the picture where they are mounted separately from the tractor
