IH 234 Cornpicker

It is by spring compression. The PTO on the tractor fits inside the coupler on the subframe. It does have to fit just right, meaning the couple should be held back by the metal clip and as the mate they pop together. For me, the bottom of the PTO disk needed to go inside the couple first. Make sure the clip on the subframe holds the coupler. It took me a few times to figure it out.
 
there should be a plate that holds the coupling on the picker. it should tip the coupling so it faces up. when you lift up the sub frame the couplers should contact each other . then slowly turn on the pto and they should engage
