IH 2504 oil pressure way to high

Yep Rich... i already tested that a while back and there was no blow backout the injectors. Compression is only 300 in that # 1 cylinder, 350 in #2, then 400 in the back two. Here shortly i'm gonna pull off the pan and have a looksee. Stay tuned

Well pan is off i got the motherload of metal in the pan. It's probably a rod bearing but not sure yet. The pan has been off before looking at all the brazing that has been done

I drive this tractor around today and the oil pressure stayed at 35lbs
You must not know much about what happens when a rod seizes and snaps off. When a rod is knocking in an engine the above statement saying “I drive (drove) this tractor around” should not be something that is said about its operation when in that condition. The damage was probably done, but you could have also added an extra diagnostic window in the block. Also, since these engines only have bypass oil filtration and not full flow filtration any crud small enough to get through the oil pump pickup screen goes into the oil pump. It is then pumped into the oil galleries and into the other engine bearings, which is exactly why the oil pressure regulator became stuck. Yes, once the knocking started most of the damage was probably done, but still no need to continue to run it spreading more and more junk into the oil system.

Yep you're right... Damage has been done. What would be your course of action now? I do not want to put alot of money into this tractor.

And i had no idea it had a rod knocking

Rebuilding that engine and not wanting to spend a lot of money don’t fit together. Here is a used gas engine in Wisconsin for $700. Used C-153 504 engine
Yeah you're not kidding. The D-188 diesel engine used in the 504s was only used in the 504s (including Farmall, Utility, and 2504), and there weren't that many made.

The only one that's less-used is the D-166 from a 340.

You can use any engine from a 340 or 504 series tractor to replace this one. Might be gas. Might be less displacement. But it'll be functional.
