Is it a row crop tractor or not?

How do yo tell if my IH 574 is a row crop tractor? I am looking for a rear axle housing and there are two part numbers. One for utility and one for row crop

So this is a utility?

Yes, utility. I do have a Hydro 84 with 16.9 X 28 tires that has the row crop axles, and CLAMP ON eight bolt hubs as the wheels don't have the adjusting ramps like the
one in the photo. I'm not sure how it came originally as I bought in from an Amish repair shop.

I have a 674 that I think could be called a row crop.
It has adjustable bar axels on the back.
Most Ive seen are just flange axels.

how do u tell?... well the utility has non adjustable axles, and has a lower profile. a row crop has adjustable axles and is a taller stance. examples are 450, 560, internationals vs 460,560 farmalls.AND... the word FARMALL would give it away also. no such thing as an international tractor being a row crop. and u told us its an IH 574 so that says standard tractor. plus the serial number tells the story also.

And I would assume the U in front of the SN means utility?
our serial number plate is hard to read. But I think the "U" is the last thing before the sequential number part of the serial number. If so, it means the tractor was built in the USA.

Those of you saying "It has to say FARMALL to be a row crop" are mistaken.

Starting with the 350 "High-utility" IH produced row crop versions of utility tractors. These tractors had bar axles, and 38" cast wheel centers same as the Farmall, and a taller front end .

IH also produced a "Hi-Utility" 460, "Row Crop" versions of the 544 and 656 Utility.

They also produced "Row Crop" versions of the 74 and 84 series Utility tractors. They're not real common so it's not unusual to never have seen one, heard of one. You may have seen them and not realized what you were looking at...

BE is right, the 74 series had utilities, row crops and there were tobacco specials also. Row crops will have RC in the serial number, keyed axles with cast centers and 36 tires.
I have one and have only seen a couple others in person and a few for sale in pics.

The utility is like BE said. the Farmall thing disappeared about the end of the 60's with the 06 or 56 series. The 74 series for it to be a row crop has the round shaft axles with a keyway in them and cast centers. The utility has the axle flanges with a steel disc like center bolted to the flanges and the loops on the rims.

I beg to differ, with rustedred. I have a 656 and a 544 both utility rowcrops. Ialso have a 784 row-crop Bright Lightenin tobacco tractor. The 574 anf 674 were available as row-crops. The had a straight front axle the the bar type rear axle. (wheel with adjustable by sliding on the axle) Most commom were 16.9 or 18.4 x 30 tires. The 38 inch wheels like on the rear of a 656 Farmall are rare.
