JD 3020 PTO Clutch Fingers

Hello all! I had one of the fingers on the clutch plate break off that engages the pto on my 3020. May I drive the tractor while not using the pto to do some moving of hay bales without causing additional issues until I get the time to fix the pto clutch. I know the pto fingers were worn but do not have any idea what caused the one to actually break off. I had the bottom cover off and saw the finger come out while engaging the pto on the bushhog. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and recommendations.

Looking through the bottom cover, see if the broken finger is hitting anything? It may be OK. You might be able to change that broken finger through the bottom cover?

Thanks for the reply Jim. The finger actually broke off the tabs on the plate and came out. It is no longer on the plate I am concerned if the missing finger will cause a balance problem on the engine clutch when it is engaged and locked up with the flywheel possibly causing more damage. Thanks.

The pressure plate turns with the engine flywheel whether or not the "engine clutch" is engaged so whatever amount of unbalance there is will exist all the time the engine is running.

I don't know how bad this will be at lower engine speeds, it will surely make a noticeable "shake" that won't be good for things at high engine speeds!
