JD 630 Hood and Front Hood Painting questions

Last April, 2024, I sanded the hood and front hood of my 1959 JD 630 tractor. I sprayed them using the John Deere Green and Yellow Paints in spray cans and applied new decals. I noticed after it sat for a couple of weeks when it got warm outside and I would climb up on it my arms and/or hand would leave like a smudge mark. I would use a soft cloth to wipe it down to clear it. My question is there anything I can put it such as Clear Coat or some other sealer, wax etc. to prevent this? Or, did the JD paint need time to set up and harden? Any and all assistance is appreciated.

What do you mean by "smudge marks'? Is it the paint lifting? Is the paint soft? Did you clean and prime the area thoroughly? Clear might be an option but if it wasn't prepped properly, you might be chasing your tail and have to do it over anyway. Proper preparation is 90% of the job.

Thanks for you reply. What I meant by "smudge marks" is from the sweat coming from my arms and hands. The paint has completely dried, not soft, and peeling or lifting.

There is no such thing as JD paint. Never has been. Your results are normal for what you are using.

There is nothing that will prevent that other than not touching the paint. Go put your hand on your car/truck. Does the exact same thing. Look closely where you touch the door frame to push the door closed from the outside. Smudge marks.
