Anyone know how to set up for 30” rows, if it’s possible, on this kind of cultivator? I don’t see it in the manual. Many choices, but none show 30”. 28” is the closest. Maybe I can work with that and move tue shovels for the extra 2”?

Thanks,
Robert

The rows will be 15" from the center of the tractor. Lay a yardstick on the ground to visualize the row. The hardest part is getting the shovels under the tractor far enough away from the row. I try to run the shovels 5" from the row.

I guess it was kind of a silly question, but maybe more so for the shovels have to probably lead or follow each other so they scrape every inch inbetween the rows

In 30" rows I use two 4" half sweeps and one 6" full sweep up the middle. I should ask do you have spring teeth or ridged trip shanks?

I have 3 different cultivators so I have all the options. But, I am using on both sides of the frame a cultivator that has only the spade shovels, 5 a side. 3 shovels on long bar on the outside per side and 2 shovels on the inside per side. Then, I am using a rear rig with 2 spring tooths on left and right and 2 in the center between those

Run the shield as close to the shovels as you can. They shouldn't hit the shovels or plug with dirt. Run then higher than the shovels.

All these adjustments vary with field conditions. Crop size and weed type and density.

Starting out for starting point 8 to 10”?

Do you normally move the shovels as the crop grows or do they stay the same each cultivating time?

And how far of the ground should the shields ride. They stay above dirt and don’t touch ground? On a cement pad, 2 inches off ground?

You only need shields in small corn, so you Don't cover it. As the corn grows the roots are bigger so you can't work as close to the row. Two inches is probably a good place to start for shield height. I was once told when I asked how deep and how close to the row to cultivate. As close as you can and as deep as it takes.
The time to cultivate is before you think you need too.

Great reply thanks
