John Deere 2 Cylinder 200 Series Cultivator

Anybody know what the difference is for theses two different shovels, or shovel vs spring tooth on these old two cylinder cultivators. I have a two row John Deere cultivator from the 30’s for my ‘37 A. I have 3 different cultivators with different choices.

Not my tractor obviously, also my cultivators are the round tubes that hang off the frame.

Thanks
Robert

While I was employed at local JD dealer from '65-'87 the cultivator shank with spring attached to the rear of shank was utilized by largest majority of farmers in my area. I'll guess C type shank although cheaper with less parts would not be as rigid when used in close proximity to plant stalks/roots.

I read somewhere that the C type spring teeth will pull roots to the surface better than rigid shanks.

Interesting, thanks. My oldest cultivater has the rigid sweeps each side of shields, and the spring tooth shovels on the ends of the cultivator.
