John Deere 60 belt pulley/clutch assembly reinstallation.

Hello, I think I'm posting this the question the right way, only my second posting and first time using the new layout. Anyways, I removed the belt pulley/clutch assembly off of my John Deere 60 propane to replace the clutch bearing and the bushing. I replaced said bearing and bushing and am now trying to reinstall the assembly back on the crank shaft. I can not get it far enough to where the bearing is even touching the inner race that's preontalled on the crank. It's like the bushing is too tight to slide on the crank. I even tried ever so slightly beveleing the bushing with a drimel to help it slide on. It came off super easy so I'm thinking im either missing something or the bushing is too tight for the crank. Any advice or suggestions would me much appreciated. Thank you- Jacob.

U should measure the bushing and shaft to know. Did you slide it on before installation that clutch brake surface must have been riding on the rivets with a worn out brake pad.
 
Yes, hone it to fit like others said.

On a side note although you're beyond this point, some people drive bushings in using a hammer and bushing driver. A lot of times this method mushrooms and deforms the bushing. I try to always use a piece of threaded rod, bushing driver, and nuts to pull the bushing in.
 
Thanks for the help guys, it was a combination of both, needed honed and had a little bit of a bur around the end. Got it honed and fits just fine. Thanks- Jacob.

Yeah that clutch break is beyond shot. In all reality I should put a hole new belt pulley assembly on. The interal bearing spun in the housing to the point I had to ping the housing and put bearing mount on the new bearing. Hoping it holds no more than what I'll use it for.

And also take it out of gear and push clutch lever ahead when idling.
 
Well I thought I had everything ironed out, but there is still a screeching comeing from the clutch assembly, I adjusted the clutch and everything where there is a crisp pop to engage the clutch. The belt pulley does not have a lot of up and down play like it had before. But it still screeches and tries to lug the tractor down. Any ideas?
 
Is the pulley brake adjusted correctly?? When the clutch lever is allowed to come back too far the clutch fork started to re-engage the clutch.

Or else you might have to hone the bushing a little more.
 
I have the clutch disc pulled out if it at this point and it still does it. It's like nails on a chalk board but it's not constant, it's every half second or so. About like a high pitch chatter. Even though the bushing slipped on with the assembly you think it might be too tight? I have to tear it down anyway, I did not realize that bearing has to be packed with grease, I just coated it in assembly lube thinking it got oiled from the crank case. This is the point it is at now and still making the noise. And I'm only 85 percent sure it's even comeing from the clutch. But I do know when I engage the clutch it goes away for the most part but is still there. It made this noise before rebuilt it. And I'm wondering if the bearing mount I used to seat that bearing has broke loose and that clutch bearing is spinning inside the housing.

those will do that sometimes when the engine is running and the clutch is freewheeling. I really never pinned down as to why, I almost wondered if the splines were a little chattery and causing some of it. Good luck.
 
I think I found it. Tore it all back down and the clutch bearing is lose and wiggles all around. The bearing mount did not hold. Now I am assuming the outer race is suppose to be tight in that housing? Tried sending a video but it yot angry at me lol. Again thanks for all of ur guys help.
 
That's a roller bearing in there correct?? If so then yes the outer race is supposed to be snug in the clutch pulley. I think finding a better pulley would be the easiest option.
