I have a 1947 John Deere A tractor that leaks hydraulic fluid into the transmission during use of hydraulics. this causes the transmission and hydraulic fluids to leak past the axle seals. I am also always adding hydraulic fluid as a result. My question is does anyone else have this problem or has had this problem and how to fix it and what the fix entails. Any help is appreciated!

To stop hyd oil from entering trans case one needs to replace seal(item 58) on hyd pump & possibly where rockshaft piston housing attaches to rockshaft at gasket(item 5).

Do you know if i will have to split the tractor to fix this or if i can do it from the back?

I think the PTO seal can be done without pulling the rock shaft housing. Unless the drive coupler falls off inside?? Hopefully it doesn't have enough room to slide off. The rock shaft piston and cylinder seals have to be done with the rock shaft housing removed. If you got a cherry picker or tractor and loader it's not a bad job to take the rock shaft housing off

I’m assuming what you mean by rock shaft housing you mean the big peice I have circled in the picture below?

Jim's right, if the gasket fails you have to pull the rock shaft. Now that I think of it I believe the piston seals can be done out the back without pulling the housing.
