John Deere R fuel filter valve

my R fuel filter valve on the fuel filter head is leaking, I bought a new felt and o ring to replace on the valve, I took the 2 screws out and the washer off but I can't pull the valve out is there something I missed doing? this is on page 24 of the parts manual key 18, 11, 54 thank you.

Have you dug the old felt out with a pick?

yes the old felt came right out, the valve turns freely, I have tried pulling it out with a pliers it's like something holding it in

The old, hard O-ring must be holding it.

Put some penetrating oil in the felt recess and pull on the stem and turn it 'til it lets go.

I got it out, I had to put a lot more pressure on than i thought, o ring and felt installed bled the system and it started right up thanks for your help and support, Alan
