Jubilee Lift Arms

I have a Ford Jubilee used to pull a 5' bush hog. On occasion the bush hog will raise up without me touching the lever, then will not go back down. The hydraulic fluid was ugly...contaminated with water. I have changed the fluid twice. The second change looked pretty good but still some contamination so changed again. Sometimes I have "Bounced it down" by going over some ruts in the road, but that does not always work. Sometimes it settles after I turn the tractor off. Any idea what is going on?
Thanks!

I guess this thread slipped through the cracks, sorry.

Sounds like you have a few issues going on though. I would venture a guess that you have a few linkages worn or out of adjustment. Also sounds like your relief valve and/or plunger could be gummed up from the contamination. I would suggest doing a top cover rebuild and a close inspection of the linkages while you're in there. More than likely the cylinder needs to be cleaned up, relief valve replaced, and of course seals replaced.

Thanks for the information! It has been doing okay for the past week. I will change the hydraulic fluid again soon. If problem reoccurs I will follow your suggestions!
Thanks,
Rich
