liners and pistons for 282

Oh well I knew that I needed an overhaul kit one broken liner one badly scored liner and knew I needed new bearings . As for tearing engine down and liners out that will take about an hour engine is on a stand etc . I have contacted several suppliers of parts unfortunately I have not run across the correct kit . I will be ready to reassemble this engine long before the UPS guy drops off the parts. As for list I already know I need everything lol.

I'd get the block stripped down first before ordering ANY parts. The block bores need carefully measured AFTER the old sleeves are out, some bores MIGHT need some oversized OD sleeves too, I've seen .002, .004, and .010 oversize OD sleeves used in the past.

Yeah i have checked piston stamping its a standard piston from IH didnt see any oversize stamping anywhere on rods etc. So i feel confident that if liners are tight when i drive them out it will be fine. yes you are right they could have stamping for oversize . They are light press fit should not be loose i will check that out tommorrow . Still waiting on reliance to call me back about the kit numbers i gave them. So i will know what to tell them before they call me back. Thanks for the advice.

Hey i want to thank you for your advice as well as everone that has posted advice like Diesel Tech
I have removed the liners and have sent everything to a machine shop. Parts guy told me today that
you really dont want to just order a supplied kit cause these engines liners are know to vary. I really appreciate
all the advice .
