M and w mods for a Farmall m

I have always wanted to make a Farmall m or h with all the m and w mods I was wondering what all they made and how good are they I want to not be afraid to hook on to a hay rake and go I was also wondering if the m and w stuff will work on a super m or md since I already have a m thanks in advance
 
I think they can be model specific. The most universal is likely the hand lever throttle. it is a friction based design not notches. There is a governor that probably works on any non diesel M or M variant. The Transmission gear overdrive is (IIRC) not able to cross model boundaries of M but includes the diesel M. There are likely other components as well. Jim
 
I was also wondering how much of a horse power increase it gave those tractors my grandpa had a super m with fire crater pistons and it was putting out around 60 horse
 
Every 2 years there is a m&w collectors group that meets at the half century of progress show at Rantoul Illinois. There was many products available for Farmall tractors. If you could somehow contact them you would be off to a good start. Good luck hunting. Mark
 
I remember that there was an episode on classic tractor fever were someone had a farmall M with just about every M&W option on it. It aired on RFD. very interesting

Hello m farmer, welcome to YT! Not sure if you just threw out the name “Fire Crater” or if you are associating it with M&W, but that is the name IH used for their pistons for increasing compression. The M & W names were “Add Power” and “Power Dome” They also made stroker crankshafts for them. One of the better known items they made for an M was the Live PTO brake pinion clutch. A couple other items they made for them not mentioned yet were a live hydraulic pump and a gear reduction starter kit. I have one of those on my M.

Ok thanks used red mn fire crater is what my grandpa called them does the gear reduction starter make it spin faster or just give a six volt system more cranking speed
 
In actuality it “gears” down or slows down the starter drive. It is the same cranking motor with either a modified armature or M&W supplied a different one. The thing is when running on a 6 volt battery when the engine is real cold or real hot when the 6 volt starter would normally struggle rr—rr—rr it actually will crank it faster because the the mechanical advantage the drive motor has over the starter drive. I run it on 12 volts and probably wouldn’t need it. Here is a link to a discussion on them on the Red Power forum. Farmall M gear red. starter

Add power pistons and sleeves.
Live hydraulics.
Live PTO clutch.
Easy reach brake lock.
Easy push clutch linkage.
Add-power governor.
Super snoot for radiator with mounted pickers.
Flip seat.
Long stroke crankshafts.
9 speed transmission.
PTO shift lever.
Friction throttle lever.
Flip seat.
High torque starters
