Massey Ferguson 240S 3 point hitch not working

the lever hanging down from the top moves forward and rearward when the draft and position levers are moved. With the engine off the roller follows the linkage. As as the engine is started the roller moves all the way forward away from the link. Moving it rearward manually has no effect. It pops back to the front as soon as it is released and has a good bit of pressure making it go back. I did notice as soon as the engine starts the lift arms raise a couple inches then drop back down. That is the only movement seen.

There should be a three hole cover
On bottom of diff housing need to drain oil screen is bolted
To pump is a metal screen can clean it

This strainer assembly

Well it's sucking air somewhere that's all that cause valve to destroyed you can try over filling it got the right oil in it permatrans compatible

Yes , I have a compatible oil for permatran lll. When I drain the oil out and than crank the motor lift will raise higher. I only run it for 5 seconds don’t want to burn something up! Thanks for you help

As long as there is oil in it nothing should burn up
All cover bolts are accounted for
The nuts on the center that hold the barrel assembly are not loose have seen studs broken so oil just blows by
Standpipe tube is in the hole did you take anything off and put back on has anybody worked on it lately or did it just start doing this

I bought it not running it has 465 hrs on it as far as I can tell no one has been in it. Changed the o rings on standpipe took off side plate to see I could see anything
