Mating a 7/8/9/1070 axle to a 2090???

Anybody done this.... Came across a 2090 that needs rescued. It popped out of park, rolled down a hill, took an unauthorized trip across a field and into a holler. She was stopped by a 16" cherry tree to the front axle. The front end is mangled and ripped out. It hit hard enough that it broke the weights off the weight rack, broke the front casting up real good.

Anyway, my hairbrained idea is... I have a really good 870 axle, tombstone, and steering unit here. Bolt it on to the block, rig up some hydraulic lines to connect the steering, make temporary radiator mounts to fit the 870 tombstone. Maybe it will be able to drive itself out of the mess it is in once it dries up, then bring it home and asses the damage better,

Are the steering pressures compatible???

Without checking I would say yes, I don't believe the 2090 system would be much over 2000 lbs. You could probably use the steering pipes off the 870 and have hoses made to crimp to the pipes. I do not see any major problems, the water inlets to the radiator are in the same position as the 2090 radiator. Good luck, if you can buy it right. As far as park is concerned the pawl can be removed without a split if damaged and I have put MICO brake locks on one axle of the hydraulic brake models, just not for overnight parking. Pick a level spot for that. Good luck!

I have a front axle off a 2290. It was unbolted from the engine and is complete except for tires/wheels. Will sell cheap.

I am in Illinois, near Quincy.
I'll let you know as soon as I make the deal(814). I have to run to Kansas in May, and you will only be a 100 miles or so out of the way(671).

Call or text me when you get a free minute to discuss(4732).

OK, Axle located, nice talking to you Eagle Doc. Now to see if I can make a deal on the tractor. Should be lots of fun cribbing it up, then putting an frame and axle on it up out there. There is no flat ground for miles.

I may still put my 870 axle on it temporarily depending on timelines and how spring develops.
