MF 135 gas governor help

We have a ~1966ish MF 135 that we gave to a guy to get running and back in shape. He is struggling with the governor (replaced the one that was there) and he says he doesn't want to bring it back until it is safe - which we appreciate! It sounds like it is over revving. Are there resources out there where I could put him in touch so he could maybe get some coaching via video/phone? We really want to get it back and working. I can send a couple videos.... In North Carolina.

Welcome to the forums.

I suggest you purchase the Massey Ferguson service manual (part # 1448813m1) and let him use that to fix/adjust the governor. The MF 135 used 3 different engines so there were 3 different governors involved, so giving you info without knowing what engine is a short in the dark and could be wrong. For the Perkins 3-cylinder diesel the governor is in the injection pump, and I am going to guess this is not a diesel. They used a 4-cylinder Continental gas engine and a Perkins 3-cylinder gas engine, so they were different governors. The MF135 Service Manual covers all three engines. And will be help if you have other problems in coming years. Adjusting the governor is a balancing process between the governor and carburetor, one really needs all of the correct info in hand for the engine in your tractor. Inspection for worn or missing parts is important.

You should also consider getting an Operator's Manual for it, if you don't have one. This site sells reprints of the factory manuals. Sometimes you can find used OEM manuals on eBay. You can use the online parts book at AGCOparts.com. Click on Parts Book then search Model search for 135.

Thanks.
He has the manual and this is the Continental gas engine. I'm a novice around tractors but am decent at researching stuff online...lol. Trying to find him a resource and maybe someone he could video chat with. Unfortunately I am not close by. Happy to compensate if there was a way to do that:)
