MF 283 Lift Problem

Hello. I was on the forum years ago and forgot my login and had to make a new one. I have a 1986 MF 283 and the 3 point lift stopped working after i heard a pop sound when raising the disc. The lift will raise if their is nothing attached but not lift any weight. This same problem happened a few years ago and a retired tractor mechanic fixed it. I think he put a new pump in but not sure. Is there a shear pin or anything that is a safety mechanism that snaps before something else breaks? Does it need a new pump or can the pump be rebuilt? Is there a good shop manual or CD available to cover these problems? I am a fair mechanic but haven't worked on a lot of tractors and it is hard to find tractor mechanics for older equipment. If anyone has had this problem I would really appreciate the information.

put a pressure gauge on cover
Check four bolts that go thru top cover that connect barrel should two 5/8 studs and two 1/2 studs have seen those pop oil will just blow by
Also relief could have popped have to pull cover for that one

Thanks, that is exactly what happened. Two of the bolts were popped.

So now make sure your cover neutralizes when it reaches the top of travel should not go all the way up
Which puts it in constant pump blowing relief valve whole time
