Mf175 year of manufacture

Hi all, new member and first time poster. I recently bought a MF175. It's a great tractor, but it needs some work. I can't seem work out what year model it is though. I got a serial number from the front panel, but it doesn't seem to match up with anything I've found online. Can someone please tell me if this looks like the correct number and if so, what year the tractor was manufactured?

Serial number is HFG701111.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forums.

That serial number looks more like one for a late 50's/early 60's MF65. Please post a picture of the serial number tag and a few of the tractor.

Too easy, thanks mate. Heres a pic of the serial. Also some extra pics of the tractor too.

Huh. Seems like the pics are too big to upload. Ill try and reduce them and upload again.
Pictures of the entire tractor not just the tag and medallion.

Ehere abouts in this wide world are you located?
Yeah sorry mate, its giving me trouble. Im in queensland, australia. I meant to upload half a dozen shots of the machije, but only those 2 uploaded. I'm going to run the pucs throigh some filters, and try and reduce the size.

Australia, that explains some of this. There were differences in models and serial numbers between the MFs here, Europe, and your part of the world. Hopefully someone with knowledge of the Australian area serial numbers will see this.

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

Sheet metal is similar to our 100 series MFs, but the serial number is more like the older MF65, MF85, etc.
Yeah ok, interesting. The guy i bought it off seemed honest. He even put a new hydraulic pump on it for me, so if it is a mock up, I'd be surprised if he was the instigator. Anyway, I'd like to know what it is for sure, so I can buy some part for it to work on it. Thanks for replying. 🙂

It is most likely a 175 built under license in your part of the world, right around the time of the beginning of the 100 series MFs here, but still using the old serial number format. A local MF dealer might have info. There are some members here that have info on models from your area and Europe. Hopefully they see this and can add info.

From TractorData the 1964 MF 65 (in this area) used a serial number range starting at 701057. 1965 started at 710788. The 175 started here in 1964 and the first serial number is shown as 644000001. In 1967 they changed the serial number format to 9A1000, with the 9A prefix used from there on.

Yeah thats what I saw on tractor data too. It really confused me, so I thought I'd ask you guys. But that's good, that's given me way more information than I had before, so I appreciate your help. I'll certainly be staring some threads when I start working on the old girl.
