As progress continues on the R I had the battery box on the side for easy access. She is 12V and has the hydraulic tank under the fuel tank. Any thoughts or pictures of them under the fuel tank with? Might have to get creative and get a low profile battery. Well any pictures or thoughts would help.

I thought there was a low profile battery used on VW's that people have been using. Maybe someone will chime in. Not sure how close they are on the R's but I use a group 1 on my ZA which seems to fit ok. Cant use a battery cover on it though.

BCI group 42 is quite short. I think that is what Air Cooled VWs 12 volt used under the rear seat. I think early Rabbits and Scirocco used same battery.

Had the battery under the gas tank on my utu. Had to cover the battery posts with a piece of mud flap because when the tank was full it wanted to set down on and short out!! Last winter I built a bracket and mounted it down where the belt pulley would have went. Isn't correct but at least I don't have to worry about blowing up!!

Late chiming in but I’ve been converting my under tank batteries to side post. Again not original but no worries

Yes a possibility. The real issue is Most of my batteries/tractors are 12v. I try to use group 24 and eliminate all the "special batteries" or at least keep them to a minimum.
