Model U Rear Tires

I have a 1937 Model U that I have restored and need new tires. The rear tires are currently Firestone 15-28's that are dry rotted. I believe the old tire size translates to 18.4-28 modern bias tire sizing, I cannot find a good chart that converts that to modern radial sizing.

My question is, the 18.4-28 appear to be an oddball tire that can be found, but is expensive. Is there a similar sized common tire that would fit on the tractor? Ideally, I would be able to reuse my existing rims, but I have leftover paint to paint new rims if need be.

The tractor is just going to be a show/parade tractor, so I am not too concerned about ground traction. The tractor has a slight lean where the rear of the tractor is a bit higher than the front, so slightly smaller tires would probably be okay.

Thanks in advance for any input.

FYI, the paint overspray on the tires was intentional since the plan was to replace all of the tires after I painted it.

you would need 16.9x28 tires. 18.4 is way too big. keep the french and hecht front rims, hard to come by.

15-28 does convert to an 18.4-28 but a 16.9 would be much easier to find and probably look just as good. I did find a company selling an 18.4 for $875. Same store has at least a dozen 16.9 options under $850. Could measure the actual rim width and go from there. Tractordata says they had a 12.75x24 tire. Can't sort out when that may have changed to a 28"

The AC data book by Terry Dean lists the tire size for a model U as 11.25-28 prior to serial no. 22084 and 13-28 22084 and up.
