Hello everyone. I joined the forum to create this post.
My neighbor, who is a retired mechanic, drove his Moline L500 backhoe to my house to help me dig-up a waterline leak. My house is on-top of a steep hill and the tractor did not have functioning brakes at the time then sprang a hydraulic leak on the bucket arm while he was running it, so he left the tractor in my yard with (I think) the intention of one day fixing the brakes and driving it home. Well that was about 5 years ago and the tractor is still sitting in my yard. As you can see in the pic, the tires are flat. (I have the newish tires sitting out of frame and was planning to use the bucket to help lift the tractor up enough to remove the rims and have the tires replaced.)
My neighbor's health has deteriorated to the point that he cannot get around easily, so there are no plans to repair the Moline and he has gifted it to me with the hopes that I will repair it and use it. The problem is that I am not a mechanic. I have done minor repairs on my vehicles, but I have no experience in trying to get an old tractor running that has been sitting without being started for 5 years. The last time it ran, it ran well and according to my neighbor he rebuilt the engine himself and it has good compression.
I am going to make an good effort to get the tractor running again, because I think I can and I have several projects where it would come in very handy, but it would be helpful if I had the service manuals for it.
Does anyone know where I can find the service manuals for the Minneapolis Moline L500 backhoe?
Thank you in advance.
Edit: I found the serial number plate and it is 21400076.
