I don't know the meaning of the word CAFE, but my lowly little Honda Element is adamant about using 5w-20. Has over 125k miles, change oil when I feel like it, don't have to add oil between changes, use WM brand of synthetic oil.

HONDA seems to be the only manufacture who has the 20w oil under control with no damage...per most the forums...


"Corporate Average Fuel Economy" controls how many big and profitable cars you can sell. Thus many small cars are sold at very low margin to increase sales,,, to boost the "cafe" so that the big land yachts can be sold. Thus the early push into all electrics or hybrids at low margins. ie sell one crapbox at 3% margin so you can sell three 80,000 dollar cars at 40% margin.
