Good evening. I can’t seem to figure out what that cap is for. It screws off and on easily. I have looked in the service manual that I got with the tractor but it doesn’t seem to show it. I can open it and it is full of a gold colored grease of some sort. Any help as to what is is and if it should be regreased occasionally would be helpful. Thank You.

That’s for greasing the throw out bearing on the heavy duty 13” clutch, I‘ve not known of 3000’s having this, maybe it’s had a 3400 or such transmission put in it, can you post the numbers under the hood, or stamped above and behind the starter so we learn more about the tractor, a couple of pictures of the front end and such may help too.

Unless the sheet metal has been changed the hood decal indicates you have a 2000 all purpose with diesel engine, transmission pto and a 6x4 manual reversing transmission
Date code says the tractor was built August 06, 1968
6x4 transmission is a odd find on a 2000 ag model but it was very common to have the greaseable throw out bearing on those transmissions, generally that transmission was used on industrial loader and backhoe models
