New Fuel sediment bowl issue

Fellas, I just received my new fuel sediment bowl from this site, and I have a question. I got everything on ok, and when I open the fuel valve on the bowl it filled the bowl to the top and then began to leak out unless I shut the valve back off.. I tried to tighten the bottom screw part and it didnt make any different, even when tight, the fuel seems to leak out of the top where the bowl meets the cap I believe. Is this a bad bowl?

Is the gasket in it good and properly seated?

Is the screen installed right, should be first the screen, then the gasket and the bowel.

To answer your other question, yes, the bowl top edge may not be flat. You can true it up by rubbing it across some sand paper.

Hey guys I tried to mess with the gasket a bit, no luck.. the screen is on top, then gasket, then bowl.. I have another one on order

Are you messing with the original compromised gasket or is this a new one already? If it is the compromised one, I doubt it will seal.

I had same problem with a new one. It was the plug on side where you can change the line to another direction. It will run out and look like it coming from around the glass bowl. Try tightening plug.

Oh they can be a real nightmare. As someone said try running top of bowl across sand paper. Try making a new gasket out of cork. Try making new gasket out of plastic anti-freeze jug. Try 2 gaskets. Try putting a spacer on top of star wheel incase you are running out of threads. Try bending more loop in the yoke to put more pressure on bowl. I had one on my Hahn self propelled sprayer that I tried all of the above and I never could get it. I finally got it to where it was dripping about a cup per day so I left it at that. Shut it off when not using.

I had this problem the other day. I put the screen and rubber gasket in 4 times. Then it was the spare plug, then the line fitting too. Was driving me crazy. I think I finally got it. I had pulled the gas tank to adjust the valves. This is a replacement for the original which was easy to seal.
