How much gap should be in between the rollers? I think it's around an inch right now.
You will need to look that up in your manual. I think around 1/4 inch. It opens up when you raise the header and closes back up when you lower it. At each end of the rolls you can see the shims for adjusting, on the frame in between.
 
When you leave it in place and out in the weather over the winter, and you need to work on it to get it ready to go in the spring, that is when youn see that you should have taken it out.
I think I'll have enough room in the shed for it. Most of the hay equipment around gets Priority of being in the shed.
