New to me MF 40B, some general questions and PTO addition

Thank you again @Dieseltech for your inspiration to chase down the rotor plungers. One was stuck. The timing was also either wrong before or we installed it wrong after the first more minor disassembly. My brother torn apart the injector completely. Unlike before where there wasn't even a hint of starting, the ol girl started turning over even while purging the lines of air. Once fully bled it started right, and I mean instantly. We were hooping and hollerin! He probably had 35 hours into her. All the hydraulics work and it starts better than my 2008 Tacoma haha. We will put her to use soon turning compost and ! bought a 12000 lb winch from HF that I'll mount to A 3 pt receiver adapter for pulling trees when the tires won't grip.

Thanks again!

Good work on getting her going! You may be interested in because you mentioned hauling logs... I have a massey 205 I converted to a designated log hauler skidder. Made this rear weight concrete ballast that holds a vice, cant hook, winch and chainsaw, also mounted a 12 ton winch and log tongs for pulling logs and added this small boom for dragging trees out of woods and getting most of it off the ground. Also has a standard 2 inch trailer hitch attachment. Added quick attach to the front so I could use a grapple to load logs on a trailer after skidding them out of the woods. It really works great for that type of work. This is all for my sawmill work. I don't have the grapple on in the pic.
I figured the ballast added another 800lbs, tires are loaded. This thing is a beast in the woods. You need all the extra weight in the back for traction.

Nice! I have a question about shifting gears. What is the procedure to change either 1st and 2nd or low high without turning off the motor? If I recall I can change from 1st to 2nd if I shift into neutral with the right lever, but then can't put low/high back into gear without killing engine. I have instant reverse transmission and no clutch AFAIK.

Its a little finicky on my tractor too. Usually i can shift in gear i want but sometimes not the one i want so ill shift into whatever gear it lets me. It will let me shift in one of the combinations. Then engage the forward pedal or reverse to get it moving a little bit at idle then let off and right away while moving a hair shift into the gear u want. It usually will mesh right in then. Ive never had to shut the tractor off. You will get the hang of it the more you drive it.
