oliver 1465

I have two questions.

1. What type of motor oil should I run in an Oliver 1465?

2. Tractor Manual states to use 20W-40 hydraulic fluid, which is equivalent to ISO 46, however on the bucket specs it says it shouldn't be used in the transmission or APTO drive. Which is right?

Just use a good diesel motor oil in the engine. As far as the ISO 46, I think they mean not to run it in a system with a wet PTO clutch and the 1465 doesn't have one. Use it.

Should I occasionally drain the govenor and injection pump and add new oil? Someone told me they would get a little diesel in them sometimes. Also, is there a specific oil I should use? Sorry for all the questions, there are not many people around here know the Oliver tractors.

I never heard of draining the injector pump and adding oil? Brand of oil doesn't matter. Just use diesel oil. 10w 30, 15-40, doesn't matter. Just a lighter grade in cold weather is all.

I'm trying to make sure all the fluids are correct in my Oliver tractor. This looks like a filler port located in front of the seat but I'm not sure what it goes to. It was not identified in the manual. Does anyone know if this is for the external hydraulics and does it work off of the main reservoir? Thanks for all your help.

I'm not seeing a fill plug in that picture. There's one fill plug on the top of the transmission. It's just ahead of the gear shifts. It fills the transmission, rear end and is the hydraulic reservoir. They're all in one. The dip stick should be by the parking brake.

It appears to some kind of plug in the center of pic right under the hose running across the top of the pic. My parking brake is on the right side of the seat and my transmission fill plug is on the left just above the floorboard. It may not be important, but there is definitely some a screw in plug in front of the seat. Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.

I know what the operator's manual says but I would check with a dealer to see if a universal hydraulic oil could be used in place of the ISO 46. The fewer of different oils kept around the less the chance of the wrong fluid winding up in the wrong system.

Can ISO 68 be used instead of ISO 46 in warmer temperatures?

Do you have the factory service manual? It's fairly detailed I believe. You can order the factory service manual and parts book through the Floyd County museum.

Further, there's a valve under that cap in your photo. There's a spring under it. Want to know how I know? The parts books are online through the Agco website: https://parts.agcocorp.com/us/en Use it to search your model. It's on page 100. FWIW, I don't have a 1465, or any Fiat Olivers for that matter. Hope it helps.
