Oliver 1800 oil pressure

I have a 1800 A gas, and I have just started to notice that my oil pressure red light is coming on after the tractor warms up , and I idle the engine. When I have rpms up with my rotary mower, the light stays off, but as soon as drop the rpms, to 1000, or under, the light comes on. I am using 10W30 oil . Would using a straight 30 weight oil help this problem.

If I want to put an actual oil gauge on the tractor, would I install the oil pipe in the same hole where the electric oil sensor is located?

Is there a way to adjust the pressure?

Try switching to 10W40 oil and add a jug of Lucas Oil Treatment in place of 1 quart of oil. Worked on my Dodge Dakota . Not sure about a 1800, on my 88 there is a spring in the oil galley that you can put a washer behind to give it more oil pressure.

Yes you can install oil pressure guage were the sensor is . I think it is 1/8 npt. Or better idea you can leave your sensor in there and there will be 2 or 3 more plugs at the same elevation near the bottom of block which is your main oil Gallery that you can also stick an oil pressure line into with no problem. On the same side (front right side of engine) there will be a plug that super 99 is talking about. It takes a 13/16 wrench. Under it is a spring loaded plunger and seat. Sometimes if spring is weak shimming may help. Oil pump also has an adjustable relief but obviously requires removal of oil pan.
You are on the right track sticking an mechanical gauge on there first before you worry about anything else. If hot low idle oil pressure is 15 lbs or better I wouldnt get too worried about it.

Yes, Tom, spot on
Bailey's 1800c is later than this one, but you're right on that small plug towards rear bottom right side is where we threaded in an oil pressure gauge, cut a hole in dash similar to the 1855, and put the bushes in. His runs 43 cold, 28 or so hot.
