I'm slowly getting my new to me Oliver 550 up and going. I decided to make a drawbar for it based on the price for a factory made one. I'll upload a couple pictures as a reply to this post.
When I got it the draft control lever was broken off at the transmission cover. I got a used lever and got that on it yesterday evening. While the top cover was off I put a new o ring and backer on the rockshaft piston. The 3 point now works and it stayed up all night long, so that is a plus.
I also adjusted the PTO clutch so it snaps in and out. I haven't tested it on a machine yet, but can stop the PTO with a board when off and can't stop it with a board when on. Hopefully I don't have to redo the PTO clutch.
It didn't have a remote hydraulic valve on it when I got it, so I have a 4 spool valve purchased to put on it. I'm going to run 2 remotes to the back and 2 to the front in case I decide to mount my snowplow to the front of this tractor. Will having 4 remotes be overkill??? Probably, but I've got 3 on my Case VAC and I've used all three with it. Little is good, more is better!
