Oliver 60 .... question about a photo ....

What is the unit ahead of the shifting platform? Maybe some kind of a power lift for underbelly implements or something like that?

Yes, it’s a power lift. Mostly used for cultivators.
A time before hydraulics. Fleetlines had this option as well.
Thank you TG .... it's just a photo from the internet. There is a 60 for sale up here (without that feature) but when I browsed photos on the web, several 60's had that in the photo. The little 60's are pretty rare up here in Alberta, the one for sale is locked up I think and I've heard that engine parts for these are hard to find and if you find some, extremely expensive (like anything else these days I guess). On the other hand, model 30's are commonplace and can be found easily.

What do you mean model 30? Engine parts can be had for 60's there are some posts online of what people did. Probably hard to get and yes pricy.

Oops ..... I should have titled the post Cockshutt 60 which are hard to find in Western Canada..... sorry about that. And the model 30 reference would have been for the Cockshutt 30, which are quite common actually and a lot still being used for small or hobby haying operations here and there.

The 60s that you do see are probably Standard models aren't they? So there wouldn't be a need for a cultivator lift.

You're right .... I saw a Cockshutt 60 advertised on Marketplace and when I browsed photos of Oliver 60's I saw the one photo of the Oliver which I posted, just for reference. I was wondering what that unit was. The one I saw on Marketplace is a standard and does not have that feature.

Crazy just note that the Cocksutt 60 had a different rear axle casting with Cockshutt not Oliver on it. Same for grill strip. There were a few other differences and some of them were debated.

I knew that about the grille strip Jocco, but nothing past that other than colour. They are a lovely little tractor. Many more down east in Canada and also in BC I think, the prairies didn't have a lot of them but like I mentioned, Cockshutt 30 standards are plentiful.

On the row crop, one side said Oliver the other row crop Cockshutt on one side row crop on the other. I had a bunch of both years back. Also, I do not know about changes between early and late. Example 4spd vs. 5 speed between the two. So, there is a little leeway in finding parts between the two. The 70 was in the same boat too.

Here's a link to the ad. It was originally posted for $700 but the seller jumped the price up. Remember, those are out Canuck Bucks so considerably less than your greenbacks, like maybe 1/3 or so. Not sure what you think the price looks like but even sitting as is, I'm surprised it is still for sale up here. Unless the block is busted out or something (which is common up here with our winter weather).

Standards do not seem to bring as much as row crop around me. Other areas are different. I agree on engine issues and tire condition is big.
