Perkins Parts purchase

A friend and i are rebuilding the gas engine in my 135. I decided to get the rebuild parts from our hosts on this site..
I ordered everything I thought i needed. The engine kit was a maxiforce brand. The cylinder liners come packed in 3 boxes, one for each cylinder. In each pox is the liner, piston, piston pin, clips and piston rings. We installed the liner, and i was going to set the end gaps on the rings. Took the rings out of the box and 2of the 3 sets were the wrong diameter. the third set was for a diesel piston, so it had 5 rings instead of 3. The pistons all had 3 ring grooves so they were correct. All 3 ring packages had the same part number. Made me think wow, how can that happen, and oh boy this will be a drag to straighten out.
Sent an email to yesterdays tractors, on Monday morning and the new rings were here on Wednesday. I thought that was good customer service so i thought i would share it. Cant blame the original problem on this site as that was a box delivered from a vendor.

I always appreciate when a vendor gets a good review from a bad situation.

I once worked for a guy who said that it wasn't the mistake that was important...it's all about the recovery.

Had a similar experience with a starter from asap. No hassle exchange handled efficiently. Happy customer.

I will have to advise anyone buying parts for their tractor, to avoid purchasing maxiforce aftermarket parts. Parts asap was good to deal with but the problem with the piston rings was on maxiforce. While assembling the motor, the timing cover gasket isn't even close to fitting correctly. That company must have a pretty severe good enough attitude. If you purchase a rebuild kit, I would avoid that brand.
