I have a LT1850 and the hood SIDE PANELS are broken where the mounting bolts go through. My plan is to repair this situation with fiberglass resin and cloth. If anyone has any advice on this repair I would like to hear it.
But mainly my immediate question is about the plastic heat shield at the front of the side panels where they join together. https://www.partstree.com/models/lt...utdoor-42-lawn-tractor-2000/hood-fuel-tank-9/ It is part number 38 in the diagram https://www.partstree.com/parts/white-outdoor-731-2272/ The heat shield is broken and missing except for about 5 inches where is is bolted to the side panels. My question is, how is a PLASTIC part a HEAT shield? How would I best make a new one (if it is nessessary).
