Questions about what is considered Non CDL transport

It’s called a Noncommercial Class A or Class B license.
About 15 states require some form of a special license to drive recreational vehicles.
Other states should follow the rules of your home state not the state you are in.
In other words I don’t need a Noncommercial Class A license to drive in your state but you need a Noncommercial Class A to drive in any state.
I am curious. How can any state require me to have anything that my home state does not require nor even offers??? If I am legal by FMCSA regulations and legal by my home state, I am good to go. Case in point: the Commonwealth of Kentucky does not require me to have a license plate on a private owned privately used utility type trailer. I have been stopped and when the cop sees the Ky. tag on the truck, he waves me on

Read post 54.
I already answered this question.

To drive a truck with Air Brakes you need a CDL with air brake endorsement
To drive a truck without Air Brakes you need a CDL without an air brake endorsement.
CDL is determined by GVW of the truck and or trailer.
But only if you receive compensation for driving.
Example, a man has a dragster and hauls it back N forth home to track. If he wins a trophy, technically he drove for compensation. Of course in real life that doesn't happen, just sayin.

There are exceptions; a farmer driving his semi to transport grain to market, is one. No CDL required.

I have a CDL
I have a farm in Ky and most of our trucks have Ky farm tags
I attended a Ky DOT class pertaining to Ky farm tags and CDL requirements
This is the definition they gave pertaining to CDL’s
CDL is Commercial Drivers License with emphasis on commercial, which means your using a vehicle to make money, if that vehicle is over a certain weight rating a CDL is required to drive or tow said vehicle
“In Ky” if you haul a product for family member, friend or Joe Blow that’s stranded on the side of the road, and that person pays you, buys your fuel or even buys you food or drink you have benefited and this are commercial, thus you need a CDL
If you use your truck and or trailer to haul your equipment to a job site and back but don’t include a delivery charge for the work done. CDL is not required and that hauling can be done with a farm licensed vehicle, because no money was made with that vehicle
This is for Ky and farm tags, each state has their own exemptions and requirements that can be stricter than federal requirements but can not circumvent federal requirements

Check with your state at the state level and maybe you will get the info you need
Explain how farmers drive 80,000 lb trucks with no CDL. One did get stopped the only thing he was cited for was no Indiana fuel permit.. I have hauled things on my gooseneck, that belonged to me for 50 years and never needed a CDL. At times I was grossing as much as 35000 # I have been stopped and had no problem. I hauled tractors I bought from central Il. back to Ky with no problem. If I was pulled over I told them it was my stuff.

Al. so, I have asked the same question to two different officers and got two different answers.

Plenty of ilegal terucking going on all over the country every day. Just because you don't get caught doesn't make it legal. Get in a wreck and it is a whole different ball game.
