Removing Hydraulic Lift Cover

I have a 2N that the lift drops rather quickly. I removed the side plate with the PTO shifter lever and looked inside while the lift was holding a bushhog and saw a fair amount of oil coming out of the ram cylinder. So, I need to replace the rings on my ram piston by removing the hydraulic lift cover. My concern is the high pressure tube that goes from the pump to the lift cover. Can one remove that before taking off the lift cover or do you need to carefully lift the cover with it intact and pull it out of the pump? I do not want to damage it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The tube does not actually go into the lift cover. Interface is cast hyd housing to cover by the paper gasket.

The tube is part of the frame work and you do not do anything with it. The lift cover how ever is heavy so one is best off if he has a chain hoist etc. to do the lifting. Also it is a good idea to upgrade to the NAA type piston and rings

Thank you all for the information. I didn't realize the tube stopped at the top of the casting. I am thinking of using the NAA o-ring type piston.
