Serial number question

I’ve always wanted to restore an old tractor…. Well here I go!!
I recently bought, what I was told, was a 1959 Ford 641. I have located the serial number and it reads as 43991 with a diamond symbol before and after the number. Above that is stamped 641.
My question is: looking for parts, they refer to serial numbers containing six digits. Can someone help an old man out with this, please?

43,991 DOES appear to be a valid 1958 "641" serial number.

WHERE have you been searching for parts and what parts were you looking for that required a serial # to look up?

Try adding a leading "0" to your S.N., 043991.

Hundred-one series tractors (XX1 models) can have a serial number with 4, 5, or 6 digits. The serial number sequence started with 1001 around September 1957 and ended with 171247 July of 1962. Your number 43991 is September 1958 by manufacture date but may be a 1959 by model year, very close to Ford's model year cutover. My Ford parts catalog goes by model year with rare references to serial numbers.

I can see why the confusion. Serial number 137817 is from the prior 600 tractor series. It is a 1957 serial number. Below are the parts book pages for the front wheels. As I read it you should have hub C9NN-1104-F (1957 forward). On the second page the original kit was CBPN-1200-C but was replaced by D5NN-1200-A and D5NN-1215-A. Bearing part numbers also listed. These numbers may have changed in the meantime but this information should get you started.
