Shaving the head and block for 1940 UTS.

I am working on my 1940 UTS, and want to give the engine a little more pep. I want to shave the head and possibly the block.

How many of you have shaved the block before? It looks like the pistons come about .100" from the top of the block so I was thinking about taking .080" off. Is that safe to do? Of course I will precisely measure before hand to be certain.

How much do you think you can safely shave off the head?

I have a '48 UTU that was originally Propane and it runs great on gasoline. My engine currently has a 1 3/4" depth of combustion chamber in the head, and propane had 1 1/8", . Unfortunately I don't think I can take that much.

So, in short, how much have you all taken off in the past?

Thanks.

You will gain little resurfacing hed on a 40 U. If has hC head is only like 5.5 to 1. If has the original distillate head compression is even less.
