Speaking of roofing...

It's called insurance fraud. No wonder why everyone is paying through the nose for insurance. It's ridiculous. Contractors always overbid an insurance job and the morons just pay it. We all suffer.
You probably won't see hail damage on your neighbors house from your house, or even the ground around his house. Hail produces divots or depressions in the roofing material, it stretches the material and creates a weak spot. the granular material will be loosened but not fall out immediately. I'm pretty sure their insurance companies did not replace their roofs out of the goodness of their hearts, probably only covered a percentage, but if you can get them to pay 30% of the new roof cost, its probably a good time to replace your roof. But I suppose you could call it fraud. I've had two hail claims, never got full replacement, but they did pick up part of the tab, so it was a good time to replace the whole thing. jmho gobble

We have no zoning, need no permits, no inspections. We pretty much do what we want. Praise the lord. But when enough city people move in, they will screw it up, I am sure.
Well George, if he can cure people from life threatening diseases and also have a hand in your local area bylaws, then I'm sure he could somehow prevent all those city slickers from moving into your area and ruining your life. Just ask him .... no problem ;);)

This is exactly what we did with the tree falling on our house. It damaged one side of the house roof and part of the breezeway roof. The adjuster came and said that replacing the roof on the house and breezeway would be a 20k job...

then figured how much of the roof was actually damaged by the tree
then prorated the roof for how old it was before the tree even touched it

Said it's 20k to fix the damage and replace all shingles everywhere...
We figure 8k of that damage is directly attributed to the tree

Here is 8K... we added to that out of our pockets... since, like you say... once the roofers are on site and up there... may as well have them redo what had to be done + what should be done in the next few years anyway...
