Looking to convert my G176 oil filter to the new spin on type. This is in a gas Massey 65. I see this website is selling a kit for the Z134 (MF35) has anyone tried this kit on the G176? It looks like maybe it would fit. Also I think I saw a post somewhere that someone had done it. Can't find it though.

Don’t say it will fit. Lot times when things say it fits it still want work. I have trouble with things made in India. Just want buy things from there.

Hey thanks so much. That's why I thought I remembered that I saw on a post somewhere. If I end up doing it, I will come back here and post the update so other folks will have the info. Cheers!

Follow up on this topic from the OP. The reason I wanted the spin-on filter was that the original oil filter canister wouldn't stop leaking. Same problem many people have. I pulled the filter can off a few times, adjusted the gasket and made sure all the parts were in correctly. Still leaked. Did this again and again. Finally I just got mad and put so much torque on the bolt that I was sure I was going to wring it off. I didn't, and the leak stopped. Amazing. All I had to do was put like 150 lbs on it! I'm not a small guy, I put my back into it. That is one tough canister.

I have few gas Masseys I have installed spin on oil filters on all. It was always a fight to reinstall canister type filter. When we buy a filter cartridge here the rubber gasket no longer come with it.

Thanks for posting Joe. No doubt I will get mad at this thing again and just finally put on a spin-on filter. I'll leave the canister intact for now since I paid good money for the filter that's in it.
