TO 30 transmission

Did the TO 20 & 30 tractors ever come with an over drive like some of the Ford tractors did? Can an overdrive even be added to a TO 20 or 30 ?
I'm thinking that a TO 20 or 30 with an overdrive would be a great riding tractor on a tractor ride.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

My TO20 Has an over/under made by Hupp. In high it will cover 4 miles in 12 minutes. Low is shot. When I shifted it into low it took several minutes to get it shifted back out. I plan to get rid of the tractor in the spring if I can find something else to leave my Dyna-Balance mower year round. It has been on the TO20 for about 6 years now. The TO20 sticks in first gear and I have to use a long pipe on the gearshift to get it out.

My understanding is that the various auxiliary transmissions didn't come from the factory, but were available as dealer installed options. Sherman seems the most common, then Hupp and maybe another lesser known brand?

The Sherman overdrive transmission from a Ford will swap directly into a Ferguson, you'll have to drill a hole for the shifter. Sherman produced a combination over/under transmission to bolt into a Ferguson, the same internals as the Ford model, but the shifter cover was different for clearance. A unit from a Ford will fit if the cover is modified. A search of this forum and also the wider internet will yield quite a lot of information.

I have a TO-30 with a Sherman combination and another TO-30 with a Sherman overdrive. The overdrive unit shifts easily, the combination requires a little fussing with finding neutral and moving the shifter in and out to get to one of the ranges. Overdrive transmission is 'whiny', not sure if it's just the nature of the beast or could use servicing.

Here's three threads from this forum about the matter.

These transmissions make for a fast tractor if that's what you are looking for.

Edit to say: After reading thru those historical threads, the case on the Ford Sherman combination transmission has to be modified along with the cover to use in a Ferguson. Not sure about the case on the overdrive. My impression is the overdrive from a Ford is a bolt in with no modifications. I'd wager the stock starter linkage will not fit tho.
