TO35 Oil Pressure

Hi all,
Just bought a 57' TO35, this is my first tractor, so I'm learning as I go with fixing it up. That said, one of the first things I did is replace the oil with some new conventional 15w40, and replaced the oil gauge with a new one, since the old one was rusted out. Now when I start up, I get about 40 PSI on the gauge almost immediately, although it seems to remain pretty consistently at that pressure across RPMs. Is this a cause for concern, and if so what can I do to remedy it?
Thanks!

Are you worried that it is too high? Thats about right for the Perkins and exceptional for the gas Continental.
Yeah, I was worried it was a bit high, when I did the oil change I wasn't able to replace the filter, since I ordered the wrong on by mistake. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't at risk of blowing any gaskets if the to pressure was too high.

The Continental uses a by-pass oil filter system so the pressure might drop with a new filter.

I'll bet the oil pressure is higher because shims were added to the relief valve, OR the cup type spring retainer was flipped over. My MF boss used to do that when he repaired Continental oil pumps.

Is this something I should look into doing something to when I change the oil filter? When I did the oil change originally I overfilled it by a bit on accident, but even after draining enough to get the level below the full line on the dipstick, the pressure didn't change.
