Turbo charger for 2240

I have a John Deere 2240 real sweet tractor. I'm running a brillion cultipacker '14 on some hills and need a little more throttle response to get it rolling. I know that the 2355n's have a 3 cylinder 179 cb in same as the 2240 other than it has a turbo. Could I put a turbo on a 2240?

Yes you are correct on the part numbers but they both have the same specs

Could you? Well, yes, of course. Should you? That's another question. Just because the two engines have the same displacement doesn't mean they are the same internally. Some questions:

Will a turbo system fit under the hood?
Horsepower comes from heat. Will you have enough oil pump/oil cooler/radiator?
Will your clutch and drive train stand the extra load?
Do you have enough rubber and iron to put more power to the ground?
Tractor Data site shows 8hp difference. Is that enough for the hassle/expense?
Is your tractor currently up to specification or would a refresh get you the extra ponies you want?

You'll be the first to know.

I've never heard of anyone turbocharging a utility tractor to do field work. Probably reasons for that as outlined above, not that I can claim to have heard everything...

Seems like you're thinking of 'lowering the river' when you should really focus on 'raising the bridge'. You said yourself it's a "real sweet tractor". Why reward it with that kind of punishment? For bigger work you need a bigger tractor.
