Water pump for 202

Hey guys had a question regarding a leaking water pump from the inside of the pulley. I feel like I read somewhere that replacing the seal or just the water pump wasnt worth the effort is this true?

I have a press, can I just find a replacement bearing and seal if possible or at least just replace the water pump assembly as my pulley has nothing wrong with it. Are they temperamental too dislodged and press apart?

Thank you

I'm sure you cand find a seal and bearing. It really depends on how good of shape the impeller is in. AGCO has just the pump for around $100. I would just replace the pump.

A complete pump less pulley can be found from several sources and the pump with a new pulley as well is available (this site has one). You may find a pump kit (bearing and shaft, seal, gaskets, and impeller will cost nearly as much as an aftermarket pump. And even if you are careful there is the risk of breaking the housing during pressing the pump apart and together.

The book shows the pump kit with support (part the bearing and seal are in) as MF # 830691M91. You would have to press your pulley onto to this one. Some aftermarket pumps have a new pulley on them.

The kit with no support (kit has the impeller) shown as MF # 830495M91. You would be pressing all parts out and back into your support.

Some things to consider if you choose to rebuild your pump.

1. Measure and document position of impeller and pulley on the shaft for proper installation locations.

2. You must be sure to properly support each component as you press things apart and together, not just set the housing down and start pressing.

3. There is a chance that the aftermarket component, like the bearing shaft, will not fit your pulley bore, could be too big or small. Likely a bit less of a chance if you get the parts from a MF dealer.

4. You risk the support housing breaking during pressing operations.

Use the online parts book to get the part numbers and do web searches using the part numbers. Here is a link to the 202 parts book, in case you lost it, for future reference.

I had to replace the pump in my 202. My fan self ejected a blade and sent it into the radiator. So, I had to replace the pump, fan and radiator. With the radiator out of the way, it was a pretty easy job. Of course, I also removed the hood. If I was you, I'd just replace the whole pump. My new pump came with a pulley already on it. I purchased the pump right here on YT. By the way, the pump shaft was wobbly so that's why the fan exploded on me.

My fan is solid however the seal is leaking, I live in Canada I

effective till I get a quote!

Not to take sales from our hosts but I expect you can find a water pump on your side of the border with a bit of searching. You could check an AGCO dealer; the price might not be terrible by the time you add shipping from other sources.
