WD Keeps Dying

Hello all, I have been struggling with WD Ser.#97728 that keeps dying after it gets warmed up. It has always ran pretty good until this spring. The first time it was used it would hardly turn over, the battery would not hold a charge so I replaced it. It would start right up but die after it was running for 15 minutes or so after it warmed up just like shutting the switch off, but it always starts right up and might run again for a few minutes before it dies again. I soaked the carburetor for a few days since I had a kit for it and that didn't help. I cleaned every wire connection I could find and remembered I had a car back in the 60's that acted up like this and it was the ignition coil. I replaced the coil on it with an internal resistor because I could not find an external resistor anywhere. The tractor was converted to 12v at some point in it's life. It still dies after the new coil. The new coil seems to get pretty hot, Is this normal? Is it time for points and condenser or am I going the wrong direction with this? It's one of my grandson's favorite tractors and I would like to get it going without this problem if I can. Thank you anyone with any ideas. Bryan.

Getting a good condenser out of the box, is tough. My son just got a bad
one,out of the box. Turned out it was the coil. He put them both on new,
for good measure. Ended up putting the old condenser back on, everything
is fine now. Must be a way to test new condensers before installing, but
I'm not aware of it. 61 D 17.

Some diagnostics will help. Does it have spark when it dies? Good fuel flow out the drain plug on the carb?

Thank you everyone for the comments. I put a new points and condenser set in it and so far it has not had any more problems.
