looking at buying a 1985 MF 250. It does not have any hydraulic boxes or lines etc. for front or rear attachments that I can see or have seen. I am wanting to put a
front end loader on it in the near future. the seller mentioned you couldn't put one on it because it did not have the hook ups. can't you put them on? or does it hook up to the body of the tractor in front of the seat. I have no experience with this and don't know where to research. will any MF front end loader attach to it?
no local dealers. online search isn't yielding much info. I'm needing to move the larger bales of hay with the front-end loader. I'm over the 3PT hay spear.

I'm sure remote hydraulics were an option for that tractor. This site, yesterdaystractors, sells various hydraulic components for the MF 250, including both a dual remote valve kit and a single remote valve kit.

You have your work cut out for you. I have done what you are wanting to do, but with a MF 253. First, you probably only have a single hydraulic pump, which operates the 3 point lift and puts out about 4pm. It should the ”piggyback” auxiliary pump, which is around 8pm. Finding a loader to fit the tractor will be difficult. I was lucky and found a MF 232 loader and bracket about 25 years ago. That combo fits about all 200 series Masseys. With the single pump setup, like you and I have, you cannot operate the 3 point lift and loader at the same time. You have to have a selector valve under the seat and switch between the loader and 3pt. The loader works very slow on 4pm. You will have to install at least one pair of of remote outlets to feed the loader valve. I have gotten by with this setup because I mainly use it for moving and feeding round bales, and I also have another tractor with a “normal” operating loader. I hope this answers most of your questions.

I somehow missed putting the g in gpm, as in 4 gpm and 8 gpm. Gallons per minute, Trying to type on an iPad. Dang auto correct.

Also, my rolls are 4x4 and weigh about 300-350 lb.

I agree with the others. Keep looking. Find a tractor with a loader already mounted.Finding the right loader, plus the expence of adding hydralics is going to get expencive. Deal killer. In the long run,a tractor with a loader mounted will be cheaper.

I got an 85 Massey Ferguson 250 I am taking the loader off of that works I am going to sell. As long as you have the hydraulic remote on your tractor this will bolt right up

One of the issues with those tractors is the weak front axle support or "bolster". I've replaced one on a 245 that never had a loader. Move up to a 255 or 265 or 165/175 and you'll have less problems due to a stronger front axle and better hydraulics with remotes. Your money, your decision.

As a general rule, it’s usually cheaper to buy a tractor with a loader already on it than it is to find a loader to fit your tractor.

Sounds like somebody above has the loader you need for a MF250. You might want to jump on it as finding another could be difficult. I’m sure aftermarket outfits like Westendorf make a loader to fit that tractor, but plan on spending more than you did for the tractor.

Another issue with the tractor in question is the loader will be painfully slow, but I guess it would still beat a shovel. Those tractors just didn’t have that much GPM.

Keep looking it will be cheaper to find a tractor with the loader than to find a loader and put on. Also if no pwoer steering it will be a death nknell for driving much as hard as it will steer with a loader on it.
