Not sure what to do on our old truck- 1970 F-600....step on brake when running and try"s to kill engine; no boost assist to booster...or to brakes; hard pedal. How do I check this ? Thanks.

The booster diaphragm is ripped or holed. This allows the engine vacuum to suck in air and causes the mixture to lean out and kill the engine. Test it by disconnecting the booster hose from the booster, and plug the hose. if it now lets the engine run correctly, Replace the booster. Jim

In a post from last summer you mentioned finding an old "50 F2 Ford. Is that old truck still there and if it is, where are you located? ADB-IA

What Jim said. Should have a breather in the cab behind or under the seat a line comes back from the hydro-vac...booster..!that is drawing in the vacuum that is leaking through. Just info so you are aware it needs to be kept clear. The issues is probably what Jim suggested.
