Some time ago I asked how to remove road tar from the fenders of a 550 Oliver I salvaged from the State DOT. Most everyone was thinking that a solvent was the best course. It probably was if the darn things had a little bit of tar but these fenders suffered years of neglect and abuse and all I made was a big ugly mess. I finally bought a cheap set of ordinary wood chisels and with a small mallet chiseled most of the asphalt off as solid chunks before I used any solvent-several pounds and avoided the mess I started. Ready to sand blast now - then dent and crease removers -stay tuned

Oh that's a job and a half. My fenders were so mangled I put in a new piece on one corner, and took all the channels off and used one that looked the best to give me a model to go by, straightening them. Took a while, but I got them looking good. Good luck with yours.
