Hello Everyone,

It has been some time since I have posted.
Our old MF 150 has been working hard and doing very well, until this past weekend.

Seems the steering assembly went out entirely.
Steering wheel freely spins very easily in one direction or another.

You can see the shaft spinning in the wheel tube, so I assume the 'Cam and Tube Assembly' has completely broken.

Questions I have:
The the assembly boxy entirely self contained?
Can I service it in place? I certainly does not appear as if that is possible.
Is the assembly easily rebuilt?
Last one ... the main question .. what is the R&R process .. high level steps?

Seems to be a simply assembly but in a terrible location!

I've already sourced a new (used) assembly out of Mississippi and UPS sure did get it here quickly.

I'll try to share some photos and information along the way for anyone who might take interest.

Fluid was drained when shipped ... any opinions on what fluid to fill it with?
I'm thinking a 75W GL5 that does not contain slip modifiers.

I found the steering fluid reference in the Service Manual ..... just the same good old M1129A reference.

We use Phillips 66 PowerTran for anything M1129A, it is excellent.

Finally was able to get out and get everything done, it had been raining for weeks on end.

High-level steps for those facing similar:

a.) Remove the steering wheel. In our case, the previous owner had welded on a completely different wheel so sadly, we had to cut the shaft.
The new wheel must be 36 splines.
b.) Remove the hood.
c.) Remove the gas tank.
d.) Remove choke linkage from the carburetor.
e.) Remove throttle linkage from the governor side and the throttle lever side ( not from carburetor ).
f.) Remove throttle and choke levers from the instrument panel.
g.) Remove instrument panel.
h.) Remove throttle linkage bracing and throttle assembly which is bolted onto the steering gear housing.
i.) Remove steering rod from steering gear arm. Will need a pickle fork.
k.) Remove steering gear.

Again, just high-level steps, I am sure I left out many.
