Hi All,
We recently inherited a '48 John Deere M series tractor.
When we got it, a belly mower was installed.
I've removed the mower and am trying to get the draw bar back on.
I'm not certain how it is supposed to connect.
Does anyone have some good detailed photos of this, they can share?

Thanks!

Thanks 2rich4me63,
That is helpful, but I'm really looking for how it connects to the tractor.
This probably seems obvious if you've had it on the tractor already.
We're not sure if we have all the parts, so are also trying to figure that out.

Item 28 should be installed on the inside of each of the final drives. Those will get bolted to the larger holes on the front of the lift arms. The top hole on each side of the lift arm will get bolted to the final drive itself as the pivot point. On the back of the arms there are two holes which should have bolt/eyelets, item 13, in them. The eyelets face up. These connect via a linkage chain to the lift arms which are up high behind/next to the seat so it can be raised and lowered by the touch-o-matic lift sysem.

Agree with Hotflashjr.

Take a look at the FINAL DRIVE diagram below.

Note the final drive (Key 22) and the hole at the back of the final drive.

Take a look at the DRAWBAR ASSEMBLY diagram below.

Note the lock bracket (Key 2Cool and the cap screws (Key 29).

Take a look at the photo below.

Note the top cap screw goes through the hole in the final drive.

Take a look at the photo below.

Note the bottom cap screw also goes through a hole in the final drive.

Take another look at the DRAWBAR ASSEMBLY diagram below.

Note the carriage bolt (Key 20).

Take a look at the photo below.

The drawbar pivots on the two carriage bolts.

Take another look at the DRAWBAR ASSEMBLY diagram below.

Note the eye bolt (Key 13).

Take a look at the photo below.

The eye bolts secure the bottom of the chain lifts.

Hope this helps.

A lot of pictures are necessary to supplement my fading failing memory.
